Yamaju Ceramics Code of Conduct
Introduction
"We constantly strive to provide the world's best "Quality" and "Service" with our originality, ingenuity and ambition, and also aspire to the world's No.1 company in the business field we get involved in." This is Yamaju Business Philosophy (the Philosophy.)
Yamaju Ceramics Code of Conduct (the Code) is established in compliance with the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct to realize the Philosophy.
Every single member of Yamaju, including executive officers and employees, understands and complies the Code to act faithfully and fairly with the highest standards of ethic.
A.Labor
1) Freely Chosen Employment
◆We shall employ all workers of their own free will with no worker being subject to forced labor.
2) Young Workers
◆We shall not employ persons under the age of 18 in principle.
3) Working Hours
◆We shall ensure the workers' working hours, day off, and annual leaves appropriately managed, so that it does not infringe statutory limits.
4) Wages and Benefits
◆We shall pay workers at least the statutory minimum and extra wage pursuant to laws and regulations.
5) Humane Treatment
◆We shall respect human rights of workers and treat workers in a humane manner.
6) Non-Discrimination
◆We shall endeavor to eliminate discrimination in recruitment and employment, and ensure equal opportunities and fair treatment.
7) Freedom of Association
◆We shall allow workers the freedom of association as the method of labor management consultation on working conditions, working environment , wage levels, and other relevant matters.
B.Health and Safety
1) Occupational Safety
◆We shall evaluate safety risks in the workplace and ensure safety through proper design, engineering and administrative.
2) Emergency Preparedness
◆To protect lives and personal safety, we shall prepare emergency measures for possible disaster or accident and keep everyone in the workplace informed.
3) Occupational Injury and Illness
◆We shall identify occupational injury and illness situations and take appropriate measures.
4) Industrial Hygiene
◆We shall identify the biological and chemical substances, noises, offensive odors, etc. in the workplace which is harmful to the human body. The appropriate measures and workers' health management shall be implemented.
5) Physically Demanding Work
◆We shall identify physically demanding work and appropriately control such work to prevent injury and illness from such work.
6) Machine Safeguarding
◆We shall take appropriate safety measures for machinery and equipment to be used at our company.
7) Sanitation, Food, and Housing
◆We shall appropriately ensure the health and safety of facilities (including canteens, and toilet) provided to workers for their livelihood.
8) Health and Safety Communication
◆We shall provide workers the appropriate workplace health and safety information and share with them about future problems.
C.Environmental
1) Environmental Permits and Reporting
◆We shall obtain legally required permits and approvals related to environment, and filing relevant notifications, as well as follow reporting requirements.
2) Pollution Prevention and Resource Reduction
◆We shall establish adequate programs, including objectives and targets, to identify, manage and mitigate the impact of wastes.
3) Hazardous Substances
◆Hazardous Substances posing a hazard to humans and/or the environment are to be identified for safety management and use, as well as adequate disposal.
4) Solid Waste
◆We shall implement a systematic approach to identify, manage, reduce and responsibly dispose of or recycle solid waste (non-hazardous.)
5) Air Emissions
◆Air emissions of volatile organic chemicals, aerosols, corrosives, particulates, ozone depleting chemicals and combustion by-products generated from operations are to be characterized, routinely monitored, controlled and treated prior to discharge.
6) Materials Restrictions
◆We shall adhere to laws and regulations regarding prohibition or restriction of specific substances in products and manufacturing.
7) Water Management
◆We shall implement a water management program that documents, characterizes, and monitors water sources, use and discharge; seeks opportunities to conserve water; and controls channels of contamination.
8) Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emissions
◆Energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions are to be tracked and documented, at the facility and corporate level.
D.Ethics
1) Business Integrity
◆To fulfill social responsibilities and to continue business, we shall make the best effort to uphold the high level of integrity by conducting sound and fair business management.
2) No Improper Advantage
◆Bribes or other undue advantage are not to be promised, offered, authorized, given or accepted.
3) Disclosure of Information
◆We shall disclose information to stakeholders in accordance with laws and regulations or prevailing industry practices.
4) Intellectual Property
◆We shall respect all of the intellectual property rights.
5) Fair Business, Advertising and Competition
◆We shall conduct fair business, advertising and competition in compliance with laws, regulations and business rules.
6) Protection of Identity and Non-Retaliation
◆We shall implement the program to enable any misconduct to be prevented and easily detected by ensuring confidentiality and anonymity of internal and other whistleblowers.
7) Responsible Sourcing of Minerals
◆We shall not purchase minerals from the source and supply chain that could cause the social problems, such as human rights.
8) Privacy
◆We shall commit to protecting the personal information of everyone they do business with, including customers, consumers and employees.
E.Management System
1) Company Commitment
◆A corporate social and environmental responsibility policy statements affirming our commitment to compliance and continual improvement, endorsed by executive management and posted in the facility.
2) Management Accountability and Responsibility
◆We shall clarify the operation status of management system and the executive management responsible for the operation, and conduct periodically review.
3) Legal and Customer Requirements
◆We shall develop the process which satisfies the applicable laws, regulations and RBA requirements.
4) Risk Assessment and Risk Management
◆We shall establish a process to identify the legal compliance, environmental, health and safety, labor practice and ethics risks associated with our operations.
5) Improvement Objectives
◆We shall prepare written performance objectives, targets and implementation plans to improve social and environmental performance.
6) Training
◆We shall conduct trainings for managers and workers to achieve improvement objectives and targets.
7) Communication
◆We shall transfer clear and accurate information about the policies, practices, and performance to the workers, suppliers and customers.
8) Worker Feedback, Participation and Grievance
◆We shall establish a process which workers can blow the whistle on violations/suspicion of violations against laws and regulations or social practices. We shall also obtain the process to assess it and continue the improvement.
9) Audits and Assessments
◆We shall conduct periodic self-evaluations to ensure conformity to legal and regulatory requirements.
10) Corrective Action Process
◆We shall establish a process for timely correction of deficiencies identified by assessments.
11) Documentation and Records
◆We shall provide and maintain documents and records to ensure regulatory compliance and conformity to RBA requirements along with appropriate confidentiality to protect privacy.
12) Supplier Responsibility
◆We shall communicate to the major suppliers and monitor their compliance to the RBA requirement.
